The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/home.html\" rel=\"noopener\">International Organization for Standardization (ISO)<\/a> has decided to add the climate change component to management system standards.<\/p>\n<h2>Climate change amendment<\/h2>\n<h2><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-20438 size-medium\" title=\"climate change\" src=\"https:\/\/brandcompliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/klimaatverandering-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Climate change\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brandcompliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/klimaatverandering-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/brandcompliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/klimaatverandering.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/h2>\n<p>ISO adds the new provisions to a number of existing management system standards. In the following document you will find an overview to which management system standards the amendment applies: <a href=\"https:\/\/brandcompliance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Joint_ISO-IAF_Communique_re_Climate_Change_Amds_to_ISO_MSS_Feb_2024_Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Climate Action amendments<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Under sections 4.1 and 4.2, text related to climate change has been added, for example in ISO 27001 and ISO 9001. It is important to consider the effects of climate change on the ability of a management system to achieve its intended results.<\/p>\n<p>The added provisions are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><em>4.1<\/em><br \/>\n<em>The organization shall determine whether climate change is a relevant topic.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>4.2<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>NOTE: relevant interested parties can have requirements related to climate change<\/em><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Integrating climate into management systems<\/h2>\n<p>These additional statements ensure that the topic of climate change is not overlooked. In this way, it is considered in the design and implementation of the management system. The overall intent of the requirements for clauses 4.1 and 4.2 remains unchanged. These clauses already include the need to consider all internal and external issues that can impact the effectiveness of the management system.
