Transition to NEN 7510-1:2024

2 min. leestijd

transition to NEN 7510-1:2024We would like to inform you about the transition to NEN 7510-1:2024, the standard for information security in healthcare. This new standard was published on December 16, 2024.

As a result of the recent publication of the associated certification scheme NCS 7510:2025, we would like to share the following information with you.

Accreditation and transition period

With the publication of NCS 7510:2025 on 20 February 2025, the two-year transition period to NEN 7510-1:2024 has started. This sets the deadline for the transition at 20 February 2027.

What does this mean for the validity of your certificate?

  • Issued after February 20, 2025
Your certificate is valid until February 20, 2027.
  • Issued before February 20, 2025
Your certificate will have a validity date after February 20, 2027. No action is required at this time. If necessary, we will contact you.

Audit transition to NEN 7510-1:2024

Every NEN 7510 certification must undergo a transition audit to the new version of the standard. Below you will find the approach for this audit, tailored to your situation. There are two possible scenarios. See which scenario applies to you.

Scenario 1: You are certified for ISO 27001:2022 and NEN 7510-1:2017

  1. We prefer to schedule the NEN 7510 transition audit in conjunction with an audit in your regular certification cycle.
  2. A separate audit can also be scheduled.

Scenario 2: You are certified for NEN 7510-1:2017, possibly with ISO 27001:2017
You are only certified for NEN 7510-1:2017 or you are certified for ISO 27001:2017 and NEN 7510-1:2017 and must go through the transition for both standards.

  1. We prefer to plan the transition audit as a separate audit.
  2. We plan the transition audit in conjunction with a surveillance audit in your regular certification cycle.
  3. We schedule the transition audit in conjunction with a recertification audit in your regular certification cycle.

The transition audit may be carried out remotely if the objectives of the transition audit can be met.

Please note: clarification of rules for cluster B organizations

The NCS 7510:2025 includes a procedure that comes into effect when it appears that a cluster B organization is no longer eligible for a NEN 7510 certificate. This procedure can be found in our news item.

Additional questions?

We hope that we have been able to inform you well about the transition to NEN 7510-1:2024. If you still have questions, you can of course contact us.
